The unit is meant to decrease humidity of excess sludge and primary sludge or their mixture, generated in the process of biological and mechanical wastewater treatment.
The sludge compacter is used before mechanical sludge dehydration or sludge digestion.
It is used in domestic wastewater treatment plants, industrial wastewater treatment plants and in technological processes of different productions.
Sludge compactor consists of a cylindrical housing, a pit for compacted sludge, technical bridges, a mixing device, inlet pipes and exit branches. The housing of the sludge compactor is a cylindrical prefabricated vessel of steel sheets. The housing is assembled on site from sheets, manufactured of zinc plated or stainless steel by bolting. A polymeric sealant is used to seal steel elements. The bottom is a half-angle cone with a pit for compacted sludge collecting.
To intensify the dehydration process, there is provided a mixing device, which is a space frame. The mixer is driven by a gear-motor drive. For maintenance are provided technical bridges and a ladder.
Technology of the plant's operation
Initial precipitate is supplied to the working part of the sludge compactor through the inlet pipe. Before the sludge compactor the reagent can be added in the precipitate (if necessary). Sludge is compacted under the force of gravity. The compacted sludge in the lower part of the sludge compactor is gathered with the mixing device in the central pit. The compacted sludge can be removed both by the hydrostatic pressure and by means of the pump. Supernatant is diverted into a special pocket and an exit branch.
